Another juicy Australian 'sex scandal' involving their armed forces:

"21-year-old Daniel McDonald, has been linked to another sex scandal. He is expected to face disciplinary measures as the founding member of The Love of my Life, an AFDA football group that made new members perform sexual acts on one another as part of a hazing ritual."

But why that should not be a scandal, let alone an offence, is made clear:

"[...] while McDonald was a founding member of the group, no criminal offence had been committed by the participating males."

The earlier case refers to him showing off to his mates in a heterosexual Skype show:

"Daniel McDonald, now 21, and Dylan Deblaquiere, 20, faced the ACT Supreme Court on Monday for a sentencing hearing over the 2011 sex scandal at Canberra's Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA).
McDonald had sex with a fellow female military recruit in March 2011 and broadcast it live on Skype to Deblaquiere's room where other male cadets watched.
In August, both were found guilty of using a carriage service in an offensive manner and McDonald was also found guilty of committing an act of indecency."

If Australia were a democracy

Australia's recent election was held under a very distorting electoral system, and like in Britain, resulting in a hung parliament.
We'll do the same exercise as for the UK in determining what the Australian parliament should have looked like if a proper proportionally democratic electoral system had been used:

A hung parliament too. Nothing wrong with that. But it would represent Australians better.

Who on earth wants to be an Australian?

Further evidence that Australia and New Zealand are living in parallel universes: the annual tribal youth cultures jamboree, a.k.a. The Big Day Out, in New Zealand passed without notice, while in Australia it has been marred by ugly scenes of "patriots" forcing bystanders to kiss the Australian flags they had draped around their sweaty and red-necked bodies, or risk being beaten up as un-Australians. Nothing like that would ever happen in New Zealand. Ever. So never confuse Australians and New Zealanders when you meet them. Just like you would never want to mix up Americans with Canadians.

Now there is a website to measure your political position in Ozzie terms. (Thank you No Right Turn) And my results are actually not far off the mark at all:
- Political outlook: Your broad political orientation score is -43.3%, which equates to a ‘Left’ position
- Economic policy: Your economic policy score score is -3%. This equates to a ‘Centre’ position
- Social policy: Your social policy score is -47.7%. This equates to a ‘Left’ position
- Traditional values: Your traditional values score is -78.5%. This equates to a ‘Far Left’ position

As a high tax band reasonably well off homosexual my economic leftism is necessarily tempered by the fact that in return for paying taxes I get relatively little back - certainly far less than breeding couples who get masses of family support, which in essence I actually pay for. Never mind, a child is reared by a whole village, not just its family.
I am certainly pleased that in none of the categories I score on the Tory side of the spectrum.

The only reason to cross the Tasman Sea

Good to see the queer brothers and sisters across the ditch in Australia are mighty fed up with little Johnnie Howard's government's 19th century attitudes towards buggers getting hitched. They have set up a Gay & Lesbian Kingdom as a micro-state in the Coral Sea, complete with sovereign and postage stamps, to act as a refugee place from the mainland.
If only New Zealand was 10 degrees further north in latitude we could have served for that purpose, since everybody knows queens prefer warmer climes. But the hardier ones have made it over here, and most welcome they are too.

Middle Eastern appearance or Bondi bronzed?

And exactly how do you tell the difference? Here's a photo gallery of the "race riots" in Cronulla. None of the drunken lowlife throwing bottles at the cops or punches at anyone they think looks different, looks "white" to me. The sooner Australia (and New Zealand, for that matter) accepts that it is a mongrel society, the better. Racial tension is always promoted by conservatives in times of national insecurity, whether they be scared of their girlfriends preferring black dick, or cleverer immigrants be taking away "their" jobs.
And par for the course for little Johnnie Howard refusing to call the rioters "racists". Better not upset your core voters with words like that.
And lest those Middle Eastern men with an attitude problem derive any comfort: it's about time you let your girlfriends sunbathe topless and show the world how multicultural you are too.
