Rural Bachelor of the Year 2010

It's that time of year again when the days are shortest and thoughts go to snuggling up in the hay with your favourite farm hand.
Our perennial favourite is the Rural Bachelor of the Year Competition at the Hamilton Fieldays and this year's crop of eligible rural young(-ish) men isn't too shabby.
You can see all entrants here.

My favourite is:

Jacques Reinhardt
Region: Napier
DOB: 13/02/1988
Occupation: Stock Manager
Why should you be Fieldays 2010 Rural Bachelor of the Year? I should be the Fieldays 2010 Rural Bachelor of the Year because I’m driven and motivated to be the best farmer that I can possible be. I have a real passion for farming. I am also attractive and fun to be around and have a good sense of humour. I am very skilled all round the farm and at most things I do. I’m fit and athletic, love animals and people. I am knowledgeable about most varieties of farming. Very sociable and confident. I have a great personality and am very loving and caring.

And the good news? He won.

Golden Stud 2010

Belgian TV magazine Humo again is organising its "Golden Stud" competition where you can vote for the sexiest sportsman of the year. Nothing like this ever happens in New Zealand, unfortunately.
Photo specials of the candidates are here, and you can vote here.

I have voted for volleyball player Kristof Hoho. I do like a scarred boy.

Previous Golden Stud competitions are here: 2009, 2008 and 2006.

I think the quality of the field has gone down over the years.

Golden Stud 2009

Time to vote for the Golden Stud 2009, a pageant for male sportspeople, following in the wake of previous years' Golden Stud which was for football players only.
You can choose from 7 entrants from a a variety of sports disciplines, lovingly photographed according to the Classical Greek athletic principles.
Voting form is here.

My favourite is cyclist Greg Van Avermaet, but don't let my lechery prohibit you from voting for any of the other buff bare boys.

Choose your Golden Stud again

It's that time of year again when the European soccer season is in full swing but now calls attention to player's attributes other than their ball skills. You can again vote for your favourite "Golden Stud", organised by Flemish current affairs and media periodical Humo.
You may remember 2006's delectable choice.

This year I'm going for Johan Gerets (pictured left), even though he's a bit too tall for my liking. Is it me but have footballers gone less bulk muscular?

You can see the candidates and vote here.

Summer holidays 2

Yeah, yeah, I know, I haven't posted anything this year, mainly because it has been hugely hectic at work and when I get home I don't feel like sitting inside much but with all this mighty fine Summer weather, the beach beckons so much more seductively than a computer.
I trust you all survived the holidays satisfactorily too.
Our main news is that we have two very cuddly new housemates, which we got at the SPCA on New Year's Eve: two brother kittens who were surrendered with their mother and put up for adoption. So now they have settled in for a few weeks now, treating the house alternately as a 24/7 jungle gym, frat party pad and fast food restaurant. It's just like having kids that grow up from baby to adult within 12 months, but at least they came potty trained.
The tabby one is called Linus (that's after my great-grandfather) and the black and white one is called Oliver, which is Ewen's middle name.
They're busy getting the hang of the pet door system, and life is pretty much an endless cycle of eating, sleeping, grooming and tearing around, regardless of the human hours of the day or night.

The funnest news item over the Summer has been Corey Delaney's shenanigans, and whose parents no doubt wished he had upped and left within 12 months too.
The 16 year old would-be frat boy decided it was a good idea to throw a party at his place while his parents were on holiday. Nothing special about that, I hear you say, we have all been there. (I threw a party once but I invited only female friends, I don't remember what the occasion was but I do remember loud and incessant banging on the front door by hordes of guys who thought it impermissible I could have a party with 20 girls to which they were not invited. I can remember waking up, not quite wearing what I was was at the start of the evening. Nothing scandalous had ensued - but I was never able to convince my male friends to do a male version).
Our Corey has such standing within his adolescent community that about 500 of his mates turned up. And really, it's not difficult to see why our boy is so popular: he takes extreme care of his image, as is wont of savvy dudes in this media age, complete with signature plastic yellow over-sized sunglasses and never wearing t shirts under his hooded parka to ensure full exposure of his toned little bod complete with nipple ring.
Foreign and domestic news media couldn't resist the story from all angles - from moral panic to social commentary to fashion commentary, and an instant celebrity was born.

Winter warmers

Since the weather lately hasn't been too kind to us there is very little else to do but to watch what is on the dreaded gogglebox, perchance finding some totty worth whiling the night away with. And so there was this week:
Jamie Maguire (Aaron McCusker) in "Shameless". Yes, move over, Lip, and your fucking of stick insects. What were you thinking?
No, give us our Jamie instead, perving very convincingly on Katie Jackson fucking the delivery man and humping her dress while sleepwalking nude. Makes you go "hmmmmmmm" thinking he spent 10 years in jail. Who was his very, very lucky cell mate experiencing that every night! Nice dark down-covered arse too.

And there was the "Midsomer Murders" episode featuring champion rower Henry (Owain Yeoman) preening himself in a very metrosexual way before his date with his blond girlfriend and proudly showing off his package in his well-cut corduroy trousers (this is a terribly middle class series after all) when confronting his coach of a certain age.
His classically looking head landed him a role in "Troy" as Lysander, the captain of the Trojan army. He can sleep any time in my tent on the battle field.

Ewen insisted on adding Peter Pascoe (Colin Buchanan from "Dalziel & Pascoe") to the totty lineup, and who am I to refuse? Big chested, constantly brooding and looking amazing at age 40. Who wants to resist that? And it gets better: IMDB reports that before becoming an actor, he worked as a builder, a delivery man and sang in a couple of bands.

Do you think there is a common thread in our taste in men?
