The Voice of Hind Rajab

Life is suffering, and God doesn't exist, are the two zoomed-out backdrops of the docu-film The Voice of Hind Rajab, a claustrophobic, despairing and frustrating Greek tragedy stage-play set in the Palestinian Red Crescent Emergency Response Room on the West Bank. An emergency response that takes hours to organise in an endless loop (powerfully symbolised in a giant ∞) of permissions applied for, permissions granted, permissions delayed, permissions denied and being sent back to square one by unseen forces (gods?) outside the room turns the concept of emergency response into an oxymoron, a cruel joke perpetrated by an absent, unseen, unheard, off-stage evil power that is invisible, unreasoned, and unexplained. Israel plays the role of an omnipotent, omniscient deity deciding life and death of every creature in its world. Praying to god will not help you. Tacitus is still correct: they create a desert and call it peace.
